For our inaugural draft, we will start from scratch. 20 rounds, snake style, meaning each round we will reverse the draft order (1st to last, then last to first). Please respond on the thread with players name, team, and position so we can make sure we get you the correct player. If at any time you see a mistake let me know. The draft order will be randomized once the league is full and then you may start trading draft picks.
For each draft afterwards, we will start in the 6th round (the first 5 rounds will be reserved for your keeper selections). This draft will go based on the standings of the previous year.
We will have 24 hours per pick for the first 10 rounds. After round 10 has been completed, we will switch the time down to 12 hours per pick. If you have not made your selection before your time on the clock is up, you will get the next highest player on the 2012/2013 ESPN Player Rater at your draft position. Meaning if you had the 4th pick in the draft, and you didn't make your pick, you would get player number 4 on the Player Rater who just so happens to be Henrik Lundqvist. But say Lundqvist is taken with the 3rd overall pick, we would just keep going down the line until we there is a player who has not been taken. Even if player number 1 hasn't been taken, you only get the option of guys below your draft pick, because you shouldn't have the luxury of having a great pick if you weren't here to make it. So if Lundqvist is gone and Ovechkin is not, you still get player number 5.... Makes sense? It does to me and I'll be the on in charge of auto-picking heh heh.
If you know you are going to be gone for a pick, please PM me a list of guys, IN ORDER OR PREFERENCE, who you would like me to auto-pick for you.
Technically if each team took their entire 24 hours to make a pick we would not get done in time for the start of the regular season. So, if we are looking like we won't finish the draft, we will have a Live ESPN draft to finish up the last few rounds. I will decide that day in the future, but we have a lot of active participants so I doubt it will really take that long.
